NARM Advertising Awards selects "Robert Bradley: New Ground" as Best Television Spot

ORLANDO, Florida – In a ceremony held in Orlando, Florida, the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) announced "Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise: New Ground" as Best Television Spot of 2002. 

Created for the Welk Music Group by director Brian Smith to promote the release of the Vanguard Records album "New Ground" by Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, the clip was honored by the organization at their annual convention and awards banquet. Following the victory in the TV Spot category, the Welk Group went on to garner top NARM honors as mid-size record label of the year. 

With nearly 1000 member companies, the National Association of Recording Merchandisers represents the retailers, wholesalers, and distributors of recorded music in the United States along with the full spectrum of entertainment suppliers. Included are such companies as Arista, Capitol, Epic, RCA, Warner Bros., MCA, Rounder, Walt Disney, Welk Music Group, Wind-Up, Paramount Home Video, Buena Vista, and Billboard Magazine, and retail members Tower Records, Best Buy, Wherehouse, Borders Books, Target, Amazon.com, and many more.

Awarded annually, the NARM Advertising Awards highlight outstanding achievements in newspaper, magazine, radio and television advertising; direct mail pieces; point-of-purchase materials; special media; and overall advertising campaigns created during the preceding calendar year.  A panel of experts choose the winners in advertising excellence based on their overall creativity and effectiveness.  Along with being presented with the Advertising Award, the "New Ground" clip was featured on two giant video screens during the awards banquet, hosted by TV personality Chuck Barris.
